Sometimes when a home and a family come together, it's simply meant to be.
Alison and Neil were drawn to this rambling Southern Highlands home because it reminded them of their childhood years in England. “It was just like places we'd stayed in France. We both grew up in England, so the wood floors, open fireplace and French windows felt homey, and kind of right," relates Alison. "We just decided to move and we haven't regretted it for a second."
The north-facing property is ideally situated in a secluded valley, with a paddock to the rear and its own microclimate. "We're shielded by the escarpment so we rarely get frost," says Alison. When they moved in, Neil painting the entire exterior with Solarguard Luxor Dust, creating a warm, mellow feel to remind them of holidays in Tuscany and France. The couple settled in quickly and with little done to the already neutral palette of the interior, the mood is one of relaxed country living, with their unique collection of antique furniture, paintings and family collectables adding to the ambience.
