Where to buy doll's houses

Many hobby shops sell doll's houses in kit form that you can build yourself and add the details. Buying a 'room box' is a good place to start as it's simply one room and it's also a way of experimenting with a theme and getting used to decorating on a small scale.

Alternatively, you can go all out and get a house custom-made. Remember that there are a few different scales for doll's houses and accessories. The most common is 1/12th scale, with 1/24th scale also becoming popular.

Head to www.amea.org.au  the Australian National Miniature Association, for information on upcoming fairs and conventions which are great places to meet retailers and introduce yourself to the world of miniatures. Once you start collecting doll's house furniture, eBay has some great pieces.
